I believe we can learn a lot from different cultures of this world.
I believe in the good in cultures and people. But there is good as well as the bad going on in the world around us. When we make connections with people we use our five senses and emotions to be aware of people and the environment. Physical appearance and cultural norms can differ but on the inside we are all the same - we have the same 5 senses, a heart and a soul. The inside of a person is the same anywhere in this world.
'Intercultural Trauma Pedagogy with Heart&Art' advocates for those who are complex traumatised. Complex trauma usually occurrs in the caregiving relationship during childhood and is of an ongoing nature. The brain remembers such trauma as sensory experiences, the sounds, smells, looks, tastes and touch, through the five senses.
I believe we can learn a lot from different cultures of this world, on how to help complex traumatised people through intercultural Self care ! For example: Dance and music (the sense of touch and hearing for relaxing) from the Latino world The variety of food (the sense of tasting and smelling for enjoyment) from the Asian world How about Africa, the Middle East, and all the other regions of the world? What can we learn from those cultures that can help us to care for ourselves ?
